Historical San Francisco Updates
I’ve made some recent updates to the Historical San Francisco map on Wayfaring:
Montana a no-show at Super Bowl MVP Spotlight
Three-time Super Bowl MVP Joe Montana was one of just a few no-show’s at the Super Bowl MVP spotlight that was held before Super Bowl XL. According to this report in the San Francisco Chronicle, Joe was holding out for $100K. Bad move Joe. You just lost well over $100K in future endorsements if this is true.
2/7/2005 Update:
Joe Montana maintains that he missed the MVP event due to family obligations. More here.
2/9/2005 Update:
This didn’t occur to me: Tim Kawakami at Bay Area Sports thinks Joe’s no-show has something to do with Joe’s long standing rivalry with Steve Young. This story seems to be picking up steam as the week goes on. More discussion about Joe over at SFist.

Mavericks Surf Contest is happening on Feb 7
The Mavericks Surf Contest will be happening tomorrow. If you can’t make it down to Half Moon Bay, you can watch the event live from your computer.
San Francisco Map – Then & Now
Notice how different the waterfront was back in 1849. Market Street runs into the water at 1st Street. The Embarcadero and the Ferry Building (built in 1898) didn’t exist yet.
