Obadiah Parker – Digg effect

The video of Obadiah Parker‘s acoustic cover of Outkast’s Hey Ya was posted on YouTube over two months ago. Yesterday the video was featured on Digg’s front page and the popularity of the video has sky rocketed overnight. The video has been viewed 139,707 times as of today and the band (currently unsigned) was mentioned today on Spin magazine’s blog.

8/22 Update:

Here’s another example of the power of Digg. Someone uploaded a video called Slowest Man on Earth to YouTube. After two months of decent traffic (about 8,000 views), the video’s popularity went through the roof after it was dugg to Digg’s video front page. As a result, the video was featured on Good Morning America.

Ricky Gervais faux training video for Microsoft UK

If you’re a fan of the British version of The Office, make sure to check out this faux training video that was done for Microsoft UK. By the way, Season 3 of the Ricky Gervais podcast is available starting tomorrow (8/22). Unlike most other podcasts, this one is not free, but it is definitely worth the money.

8/24 Update:
Microsoft is not happy about this video being leaked on to the internet.

Toad the Wet Sprocket @ Mountain Winery (Saratoga, CA)

Last night I saw one of my favorite bands from the 90’s – Toad the Wet Sprocket – at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. I’ve seen Glen Phillips a couple of times in the last few years but I had never seen Toad play live until last night. Overall it was a great show. The band sounded great and the venue was perfect.

Here’s some VERY rough audio from the show, recorded with the voice recorder on my digital camera:
