- “And where has that brought these Giants? It’s brought them within two games of winning a World Series that just about nobody thought they would win. That’s where. And they’ve gotten there by riding a powerful convergence of forces that opponents seem to know how to stop. Not the Braves. Not the Phillies. And now, for these past two days, not the Rangers.”
- “This baseball team has carried these people halfway to the stars. Now it’s up to the whacked-out, spliced-together, who-ARE-these-guys 2010 edition of the San Francisco Giants to finish the journey — and life in their golden-gated city will never, ever be the same.”

Hank Aaron’s Speech after HR #756
Hammerin’ Hank’s speech after Barry Bonds broke the home run record.
The full transcript of Hank Aaron’s speech:
“I would like to offer my congratulations to Barry Bonds on becoming baseball’s career home run leader. It is a great accomplishment which required skill, longevity and determination,” Aaron said.
“Throughout the past century, the home run has held a special place in baseball, and I have been privileged to hold this record for 33 of those years. I move over now and offer my best wishes to Barry and his family on this historical achievement.
“My hope today, as it was on that April evening in 1974, is that the achievement of this record will inspire others to chase their own dreams.”
